ACB’s Universal Listener is a very convenient device for the investigation of acoustic and vibratory phenomena. It’s made up of noisy use appropriated headphones and 2 different types of sensors to analyze :

sound events with microphones,
Solid events thanks to 4 instrumented pliers, which allow through a selector to know immediatly which pliers is closer to the penomenon to be detected.

In a current use for noise investigation, the microphone is hold by a hand while the other hand can adjust the sensibility with a potentiometer fixé fastened to one earphone. This electronic tool of investigation is very helpful to appreciate acoustic phenomena but can’t in anyway be used for quantitative applications.
Concerning ‘’ and transitional phenomena, instrumented pliers are fixed on mechanical elements they are listened one by one in order to approach phenomenon origin.
S2ART is a sofware which go with the Universal Listener to filter the signal in order to reduce the noise, or to record the signal.

Pre-post plug for soundcard input and to listen to it at soundcard output.
